The Journey to Becoming Catholic
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)

The journey to becoming Catholic is a process known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA. The process is designed for unbaptized adults or those baptized in another faith tradition who are interested in knowing more about the Catholic faith.  It is also a path for adult Catholics who wish to celebrate Confirmation.

At St. Odilia, sessions meet weekly from mid-September through the second week after Easter on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 pm in the Parish Conference Room.  The sessions provide an opportunity for individuals to bring their life experiences and values into dialog with the beliefs and teachings of the Catholic Church.  There is time for questions, sharing life experiences, exploring faith issues within a Catholic perspective and weekly Catholic teachings provided by the RCIA team.

Those who participate in the RCIA will never be pressured to join the Catholic Church.  Those who feel called by the Spirit to become Catholic are received into the Church, usually at the Easter Vigil. For more information or to participate, contact Lucy Arimond, arimond@stodilia.org or 651-415-3331.
